Getting Started

New to SnapInsights? Here's how to get started:

  1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click the SnapInsights icon in your browser toolbar to open the popup.
  3. Select your capture mode: Snap, Annotate, Transcribe, or Journey.
  4. Toggle the extension on using the switch at the bottom of the popup.
  5. Start capturing! Click anywhere on a webpage to capture screenshots with your chosen mode.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are my screenshots saved?

Screenshots are saved to your browser's default Downloads folder. Files are automatically named with the date, time, and website domain for easy organization. You can find them at: Downloads/ux-screenshot_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-mm-ss_[domain].png

How do I use Snap Mode?

In Snap Mode, hold Alt and click anywhere on the page to instantly capture a screenshot. A visual marker will appear at your click location, and the screenshot will be saved automatically.

How do I use Annotate Mode?

In Annotate Mode, click anywhere on the page to open an annotation dialog. Type your notes (up to 500 characters) and click "Save" to capture a screenshot with your annotation embedded.

How do I use Transcribe Mode?

In Transcribe Mode, click anywhere on the page to start voice recording. Speak your observations, and SnapInsights will transcribe them automatically. Click "Stop" when finished, and your transcribed notes will be embedded in the screenshot.

How do I use Journey Mode?

In Journey Mode, every click you make will be captured as part of a user flow sequence. Screenshots are numbered sequentially and saved with metadata. This is perfect for documenting complete user journeys through a website or application.

Voice transcription isn't working. What should I do?

Voice transcription uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API. Make sure you:

  • Are using Google Chrome (other browsers may have limited support)
  • Have granted microphone permissions to Chrome
  • Have a working microphone connected
  • Are in a relatively quiet environment

If voice transcription still doesn't work, SnapInsights will fall back to text input mode.

Can I change the marker color?

Yes! Open the SnapInsights popup and navigate to the Settings tab. You can choose from different marker color themes: Light, Blue, or Dark.

Does SnapInsights work on all websites?

SnapInsights works on most websites. However, due to Chrome's security restrictions, it cannot run on:

  • Chrome's internal pages (chrome://, chrome-extension://)
  • The Chrome Web Store
  • Some websites with strict Content Security Policies

Is my data private?

Yes, absolutely. SnapInsights operates entirely on your local device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your screenshots, annotations, or voice recordings. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

We'd love to hear from you! Send an email to support@thegoodventures.com with details about the bug you encountered or the feature you'd like to see. Please include:

  • Your Chrome version
  • Steps to reproduce the issue (for bugs)
  • Screenshots if applicable

How do I uninstall SnapInsights?

To uninstall SnapInsights:

  1. Right-click the SnapInsights icon in your Chrome toolbar
  2. Select "Remove from Chrome..."
  3. Confirm the removal

Your previously captured screenshots will remain in your Downloads folder.
